Dana Michelle Cook

Dana Michelle Cook is an Emmy and Gracie award-winning producer and documentary filmmaker, dedicated to shining light on issues that bring about social change.

 

Over the past 12 years, Dana has worked in both Los Angeles and Chicago as a field/story producer and writer on shows like ABC’s Dancing With the Stars and HGTV’s Design on A Dime, producing original content for NBC, Bravo, TLC, the Food Network, Investigation Discovery, Biography and more.

As co-creator and producer of her previous documentary, The Empowerment Project: Ordinary Women Doing Extraordinary Things, she has inspired tens of thousands of young women to find their voice and become leaders of their lives. Traveling with the film on two national tours, she has sparked conversations at schools, women’s organizations and corporations, sponsored by Nordstrom, American Girl, Microsoft and Charles Schwab. She has also been featured on Good Morning America, in Forbes and Marie Claire. The film has gone on to screen globally in more than 20 countries including Haiti, New Zealand and Brazil.

She co-founded Heartfelt Productions in 2009, producing two documentaries, Girls Rock Chicago and Growing Up Strong: Girls on the Run, the winner of a 2013 Midwest Emmy Award.

 

In addition to calling Los Angeles home, Dana has also lived in Spain and Argentina. A graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara she has also worked at Fox Sports, MTV,  Montecito Picture Company with Director Ivan Reitman and boutique agency Creative Entertainment Services. There, she managed branded content for network shows and films for Warner Brothers, Disney, and Paramount Studios.
